You made it

It’s finally arrived! The end of January!
Over the month we’ve looked at checking in with our mood, looking after ourselves when things are more strained and the infamous (and inaccurate, but you get the idea) ‘Blue Monday’. We may have had to tighten our drawstrings and make sacrifices to get through it but here we are, we made it, for many of us it’s payday at last!
So now what?
While it’s tempting to just crack on with things, I want to encourage you to treat yourself! You made it after all and the days are slowly getting brighter every day. January is finally nearly in the rear few mirror. Let’s take a moment. What could you do for yourself this weekend that is a little bit of a treat and would make a difference to your mood?A cinema trip? (The Bone Temple is right there for the horror fans among you)
A catch up with friends?
A new book? (Or a trip to the library?)
Checking out a local exhibition?
Maybe even just some proper TLC and recharging at home.
In the rush and bustle of life these days It’s all too easy to tell ourselves we have to just keeping pushing on and not listen to ourselves. If you’ve had a tough January, let yourself acknowledge that and do something nice for yourself today. If that’s tough to imagine, why not think about how you’d like to treat someone else? How would you recommend a friend treat themselves after a tough month? Can you apply that to yourself?
In the weeks and months ahead there’ll be plenty of time to be thinking about bigger plans and what you want to get done over 2026. But for now, for right now, take a moment to acknowledge that you made it. January is over. Treat yourself!
